Hereford County Canoe Club is a family friendly, non-competitive, mixed-ability club for kayak and open canoe paddlers.
The Club, which started in 1956 organises a programme of sociable cruises on the River Wye and its tributaries, as well as other local waterways and one or two further afield. All involve some social event, from something as simple as a bank side picnic lunch to a camp fire barbecue or weekend camp. Also, throughout the year a couple of evening social events are held. See slide show for some pictures of our trips. If you have your own canoe or kayak, and are interested in joining us, please use the contact us page and we will get back to you. We would typically invite you along as a guest, so that you can see whether you like us before joining. If you don't own a canoe or kayak, please ask, we can often suggest where you can buy or hire one. The club doesn't own canoes to lend out. Membership is just £15pa and covers the lead member and his or her immediate family. Our members decide our programme, which rivers we canoe and the trips that we run for each season. Individual members volunteer to lead the trips. This years program starts with bath training, a spring social and then onto the River Wye. Trips planned on the River Lugg, River Teme, Brecon Canal, River Severn, River Thames and River Monnow. The trips vary in difficulty, and so suit everyone from beginners to more experienced canoeists. |
